Do we need a carrot?
I definitely do. I could not have trained for the marathon and remained committed and determined without it. However I am now finding myself with no carrot and no plan. September is the beginning of the new school year which brings with it the anticipation of something new. While doing the requisite school supply shop a few weeks ago with my youngest child I actually had a tearful moment, this was "my" last year of buying pencils and paper. Last week he started "our" last first day and then he drove to school. It is a strange feeling, I will admit, clearly my role is changing and I am not sure what it is going to look like. However I now understand the extremely positive impact the training process made on me and can confidently say that I think I need a new carrot!!!

Lived Stories...
Having just finished my Master's in Kinesiology and discovering the descriptive and evocative genre of autoethnography I find myself at a bit of a loss. I wrote three journals over the course of twelve months and used that writing as the data for my final thesis. That was a lot of writing and what I have discovered is the value of writing on a regular basis. Now that my MA is finished I am no longer required to write. Yet..my interest has been piqued and now I find that there are just too many relevant topics that impact me that I absolutely feel compelled to comment on. This blog is an opportunity to write my very own letter to the editor, on a far more frequent basis than any newspaper would appreciate. After seeing the fabulous Sarah Polley's film "Stories We Tell", I realized that that is what we do, we tell stories. And the stories that are the most interesting and valued are those we live.
